Memphis International

Memphis International Records was founded in 2001 by music industry veterans David Less and Bob Merlis. The label partners’ philosophy then, as it is now after five years of operation, was to record and release “music we like.” Taking that novel idea in this age of multinational music conglomerates a step further, they adopted a slogan for the company that reflected their approach: “Putting the music back into the music business.” With an emphasis on roots and blues, Memphis International, and its subsidiary, Brooklyn International, has released sixteen full-length albums.
